Sitting is the New Smoking

Sitting is the New Smoking

I recently came across an interesting health article on the value of standing versus sitting while working. There are many articles online if you search “sitting is the new smoking”…here’s just one Here’s Just How Bad Sitting Around Is For You. While I don’t mind sitting while working and have done it all my career, it seemed like a compelling and beneficial change. So after some research, I found a unit that would replace the structure beneath my main desk but allow me to keep the existing top work surface. I purchased the single motor standing desk frame from a Canadian company called AnthroDesk.

I was surprised that it was delivered within a couple days.  It took me a couple hours to disassemble the old desk and put together the new frame which is very adjustable. Written assembly instructions are poor but there isn’t too many ways to put it together.  It’s very well constructed with a heavy steel frame, nicely welded and painted. Nothing cheap at all. Here is a view looking up after it was attached to the existing desktop.
I mounted the single up/down switch to the left of the keyboard. It takes about 30 seconds to raise or lower.

I have only worked a couple days in the standing position and while I was a bit skeptical, it actually feels pretty good.

I did receive a small discount if I provided a review but it’s a good product so far and might be something you should consider for yourself.
